For those who are searching for a family-friendly golf community in Sarasota with plenty of amenities, the gated community of Laurel Oak Estates may be the best choice. While the member-owned community is still fairly young, it has been around long enough to provide a timeless sense of beauty and charm. With its wide roads, immaculate grounds and “family” atmosphere, Laurel Oak is a more than just a community, but a home.
For those who are interested in living in the community, Laurel Oak offers 404 home sites. Homes within the community vary in size from around 2,200 square feet to more than 7,500 square feet. The community also features three minor subdivisions, with each containing 60 maintenance-free homes. As maintenance-free homes, the landscaping and other needs of the home are cared for by the community. Real estate prices typically range in price from $300,000 for a maintenance-free villa to more than $1.4 million for a larger, more luxurious home.
Community Information & Amenities
For residents of the Laurel Oak community, membership to the 45,000-square foot Laurel Oak Country Club is free. As such, residents of the community enjoy access to a wide variety of amenities. Some of these include 12 clay tennis courts and a heated Junior Olympic pool. Numerous family-friend events and activities also take place at clubhouse. Some of these include water aerobics, bridge nights, wine dinners, theme parties, pizza and swim nights for kids, Mother’s Day brunches, cookouts and more. In all, more than 180 events are held in the clubhouse each year.
Since the Laurel Oak community is situated on 813 acres of land, residents of Laurel Oak also enjoy access to 22 wetland preserves and 29 lakes. The Club alos has a reciprocal agreement with the Bird Key Yacht Club, which provides members with access to additional social activities. The community is also home to two 18 hole golf courses and, during the summer months, members enjoy a reciprocal agreement with 20 other clubs throughout Florida.
While membership to the Laurel Oak Country Club is not required of members of the community, the country club does have one of the lowest initiation fees in the area. The annual dues, on the other hand, are slightly greater than average. The country club’s west course underwent a re-design by Rees Jones in 2005, while the east course is a Gary Player Signature course that was completed in 1995.
